Colonial Williamsburg has dozens of houses, museums, and shops
for visitors to explore. You can listen to a speech at the
Governor's House, meet colonial soldiers at the Magazine, take a
carriage ride down Duke of Gloucester Street, and possibly even
meet a famous Virginian like Patrick Henry or George Washington
himself.
For those who prefer more modern entertainment, Williamsburg is
also home to two amusement parks. Busch Gardens offers five
hair-raising roller coasters, shows, games, and dining options from
around the world. Or you can don your bathing suit and make a
splash at the slides and pools at Water Country USA. Shopping
mavens won't want to miss Prime Outlets, where designer brands can
be purchased at deep discounts.
As a popular spot for tourists, Williamsburg has many hotels to
choose from. There are half a dozen hotels to choose from in
Colonial Williamsburg itself, including the luxurious Williamsburg
Inn and the homey Williamsburg Lodge. If you are looking for
something unusual, consider the Colonial Houses, where you can stay
in an authentic period house -- although the conveniences are
modern!
Out in town, Great Wolf Lodge is a combination of hotel and indoor
water park. The lodge also includes a spa, an arcade, and other
entertainments, making it a terrific all-in-one destination for
families any time of the year. Williamsburg Hospitality House
offers upscale lodging at reasonable prices.
The various hotel chains, including Travelodge, Quality Inn,
Holiday Inn Express, Marriott, Hilton, and more, are also
well-represented in Williamsburg.
Williamsburg is only a short drive from two other historical
cities, Jamestown and Yorktown. You can explore the Jamestown
Settlement, the oldest English settlement in America, or visit the
Yorktown Victory Center to relive the end of the American
Revolution. Yorktown's waterfront, on the beautiful York River, is
also a popular destination for shopping and dining.
